Found in Leland, MI, Leland Blue is  the remains of the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company’s smelting process in the late 1800’s. It's a glass slag that is found in a vast range of color including blue, green, purple, grey, and gradient colors.

A native of Michigan and metalsmith of 10 years, Christine Leader creates jewelry showcasing hand picked Michigan objects. Feeling a strong pull towards creative endeavors from a young age she enjoys many mediums but her favorite is metalsmithing.  She incorporates the use of lost wax casting to turn natural elements such as pinecones, branches, and birch bark into silver.
