Jan Burns is a plaster artist based in southeast Michigan. Each piece begins with the surface, whether it's a piece of MDF board, a salvaged door, or a custom cut piece of wood. She builds layers of plaster over the top, creating three dimensional shapes and textures that she then brings to life with hand-mixed colors and metallic foil. Each piece is imbued with its own energy and especially comes alive as light moves over the surface while you walk by.
